World Forest Day is celebrated on 21 March. It has been celebrated
since 1972, on the day of the spring equinox. It was initiated by the 23rd session of the
European Agricultural Confederation (November 1971) and supported by the United
Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
The first organized afforestation day in
Bulgaria was held on April 12, 1925. It was the result of the joint work of two ministries
– the Ministry of People’s Education and the Ministry of Agriculture and State
Properties. During the first year of the Afforestation Day, the people
planted 420,000 forest saplings and 20 kg of forest seeds. The following
year the number of planted trees grew to 3 120,000 forest
saplingsand 208 kg of seeds.
The first Forest Week in Bulgaria took place from April 15-22, 1934. For the first time, the proposal to turn the afforestation day into a week was made by the trainee arborist Georgi Minkov in his article “On the afforestation day” in the Forestry Overview Magazine: “I think it is the duty of the arborists, and especially of us young people to think more seriously about the organization of afforestation. The idea is also that arborists from all parts of the country promote awareness-raising about the importance of forests and afforestation.”
This proposal was accepted and the first Forest Week, opened by the Head of the Forest and Hunting Department Ilia Stoyanov, was held from April 15 to 22, 1934. Every year, the pensioners from the 20 clubs of the Union of Pensioners of Slivo Pole Municipality perform activities aimed at nature conservation. They help the Мunicipality by afforesting places with clay soil or wetlands. In September 2019, 2000 black poplar trees were planted on an area encompassing 25 acres of land.
Intention
The forest is life. The forest is also history, tradition, and concern mentioned in our folk songs; it has been painted by artists and described by writers and poets for so many years. Thanks to our statesmen of the past, today we have our centuries-old forests which we are obliged to conserve because they are the oxygen of our people.

Der Internationale Tag des Waldes wird am 21. März begangen. Er wird seit 1972 am Tag der Frühlings-Tagundnachtgleiche begangen. Er wurde im Rahmen der 23. Tagung des Europäischen Landwirtschaftsverbandes im November 1971 initiiert und von der Ernährungs- und Landwirtschaftsorganisation der Vereinten Nationen unterstützt.
Der erste organisierte Aufforstungstag in Bulgarien fand am 12. April 1925 statt. Er war das Ergebnis der gemeinsamen Arbeit von zwei Ministerien – dem Ministerium für Volksbildung und dem Ministerium für Landwirtschaft und Staatseigentum. Im ersten Jahr des Aufforstungstages pflanzten die Menschen 420.000 Waldsetzlinge und 20 kg Waldsamen. Im folgenden Jahr wuchs die Zahl der gepflanzten Bäume auf 3 120.000 Waldsetzlinge und 208 kg Saatgut an.
Die erste Waldwoche in Bulgarien fand vom 15. bis 22. April 1934 statt. Der angehende Baumpfleger Georgi Minkov machte zum ersten Mal in seinem Artikel “Am Tag der Aufforstung” in der Zeitschrift “Forestry Overview Magazine” den Vorschlag, den Aufforstungstag in eine Woche zu verwandeln: “Ich denke, es ist die Pflicht der Baumpfleger und vor allem von uns jungen Leuten, ernsthafter über die Organisation der Aufforstung nachzudenken. Die Idee ist auch, dass Baumpfleger aus allen Teilen des Landes die Sensibilisierung für die Bedeutung des Waldes und der Aufforstung fördern.“
Dieser Vorschlag wurde angenommen, und so fand vom 15. bis 22. April 1934 die erste Waldwoche statt, die vom Leiter der Abteilung Wald und Jagd, Ilia Stoyanov, eröffnet wurde. Jedes Jahr führen nun die Rentner aus den 20 Vereinen des Rentnerverbandes der Gemeinde Slivo Pole Aktivitäten durch, die dem Naturschutz dienen. Sie helfen der Gemeinde, indem sie Orte mit Lehmboden oder Feuchtgebieten aufforsten. Im September 2019 wurden beispielsweise 2000 Schwarzpappelbäume auf einer Fläche von 25 Hektar gepflanzt.

Er repräsentiert Anliegen, die in unseren Volksliedern erwähnt werden; er wird seit vielen Jahren von Künstlern gemalt und von Schriftstellern und Dichtern beschrieben. Dank der Arbeit und des Einsatzes unserer Vorfahren haben wir heute unsere jahrhundertealten Wälder, die wir erhalten müssen, weil sie der Sauerstoff unseres Volkes sind.
