Bulgaria, as a part of Europe, is home to a handful of different groups of people from different cultural backgrounds. I am a part of the largest minority in Bulgaria and Europe – the Roma community. The Council of Europe estimates that we make up about 10.30% of the Bulgarian population. There are also at least 10 million Roma living in Europe.
Despite the injustice and despite all differences, we are one nation. We may have been divided in the past, but our history keeps us together and makes us stronger. We have no religion, we claim no land, but our culture is spread across the world.
Our history may have a bitter start but I believe that the future will be bright. Our community has contributed to the world’s history and culture. This must be brought to light so that we can break down the prejudices and strengthen the sense of pride and belonging that is buried in the hearts of our people.
Intention
Why is this cultural treasure important to you?
As a part of the Roma community, I deeply value our history, culture, and traditions. I have respect for the sacrifices made by my ancestors. Therefore, I would like to show how we have managed to preserve our culture over the years and contribute to the cultural history of the world. How is youth connected to your cultural treasure?
I think that as the next generation we should know the history of the Roma community and have a better understanding of its role in society. We should break down the prejudices and respect the Roma cultural contribution to the world.
Is the cultural treasure you want to share typically only in your country?
The Roma community has left cultural and historical traces all over the world.
How to preserve and pass on cultural heritage to younger generations?
In my opinion, the information will be better understood if it is formulated with more pictures, short sentences, and in a more emotional and personal way to be more captivating.
What is the way to give our knowledge to younger generations (educational system, youth festivals and holidays)?
To pass on our knowledge to younger generations, we should be more precise and interactive. We should focus on conveying information in a way that they can make a personal connection to the story and make them feel the importance of knowing and understanding the given information.

България, като част от Европа, е дом на няколко различни групи хора от различни културни среди. Аз съм част от най-голямото малцинство в България и Европа – ромската общност. Според прогнозите на Съвета на Европа ние съставляваме около 10,30% от населението на България. В Европа живеят поне 10 милиона роми.
Въпреки несправедливостта и всички различия, ние сме една нация. Може би сме били разделени в миналото, но нашата история ни държи заедно и ни прави по-силни. Нямаме религия, нямаме земя, но културата ни се разпространява по целия свят.
Историята ни може да има горчив старт, но вярвам, че бъдещето ще бъде светло. Нашата общност е допринесла за световната история и култура. Това трябва да бъде изведено наяве, за да можем да разрушим предразсъдъците и да укрепим чувството за гордост и принадлежност, което е заровено дълбоко в сърцата на нашите хора.

Считам, че като следващо поколение ние трябва да познаваме историята на ромската общност и да разберем по-добре нейната роля в обществото. Трябва да разбием предразсъдъците и да уважим ромския културен принос към света.

За да предадем знанията си на по-младите поколения, трябва да бъдем по-прецизни и интерактивни. Трябва да се съсредоточим върху предаването на информация по начин, който да им дава възможност да направят лична връзка с историята и да ги накарат да почувстват важността на познаването и разбирането на дадена информация.

Bulgarien ist ein Teil Europas in dem mehrere Gruppen von Menschen mit unterschiedlichem kulturellem Hintergrund leben. Ich gehöre der größten Minderheit in Bulgarien und Europa an – der Gemeinschaft der Roma. Nach Schätzungen des Europarats stellen wir etwa 10,30 % der bulgarischen Bevölkerung dar. Zudem leben mindestens 10 Millionen Roma in Europa.
Bei aller Ungerechtigkeit und vieler Unterschiede sind wir eine Nation. Wir waren vielleicht in der Vergangenheit getrennt, aber unsere Geschichte hält uns zusammen und macht uns stärker. Wir haben keine Religion, wir beanspruchen kein Land, aber unsere Kultur ist über die ganze Welt verbreitet.
Unsere Geschichte hat möglicherweise eine bitteren Anfang, aber ich glaube, dass die Zukunft rosig sein wird. Unsere Gemeinschaft hat zur Weltgeschichte und -kultur beigetragen. All das gilt es ans Licht zu bringen, damit wir Vorurteile abbauen und das Gefühl von Stolz und Zugehörigkeit stärken können, das tief in unseren Herzen verankert ist.
Intention
Warum ist dieser Kulturschatz für dich wichtig??
Als Teil der Roma-Gemeinschaft schätze ich unsere Geschichte, Kultur und Traditionen sehr. Ich habe Respekt vor den Opfern, die meine Vorfahren gebracht haben. Deshalb möchte ich zeigen, wie es uns gelungen ist, unsere Kultur über die Jahre hinweg zu bewahren und einen Beitrag zur Kulturgeschichte der Welt zu leisten.
Wie ist die Jugend mit diesem Kulturschatz verbunden?
Ich glaube, dass wir als nachwachsende Generation die Geschichte der Roma-Gemeinschaft kennen und ihre Rolle in der Gesellschaft besser verstehen sollten. Wir müssen Vorurteile überwinden und den kulturellen Beitrag der Roma in der Welt schätzen.
Ist der Kulturschatz typisch für dein Land oder deine Region?
Die Gemeinschaft der Roma hat überall auf der Welt kulturelle und historische Spuren hinterlassen.
Wie kann man das kulturelle Erbe bewahren und an jüngere Generationen weitergeben?
Damit Informationen besser zu verstehen sind, sollten sie meiner Meinung nach mit mehr Bildern, kurzen Sätzen und auf eine gefühlvollere und persönlichere Weise formuliert werden, damit sie so mehr Begeisterung hervorrufen.
Wie können wir unser Wissen an jüngere Generationen weitergeben (Bildungssystem, Jugendfestivals und -ferien)?
Um unser Wissen an jüngere Generationen weiterzugeben, müssen wir genauer und interaktiver werden. Wir sollten uns darauf konzentrieren, Informationen so zu vermitteln, dass eine persönliche Verbindung zu der Geschichte hergestellt werden kann und die Jugendlichen erfahren, wie wichtig es ist, Informationen zu kennen und zu verstehen.
