#CODANEC YOUTH COMPETITON #My Culture My Story

Description

Hello everyone! I would like to share with you two rare pieces which I am lucky enough to own. I am talking about a shirt (traditionally called ie) and a skirt (poale) from my great-grandmother’s national costume, so they are over 100 years old. They were passed on to one generation to another, that is why right now they look so good, because they were taken care of. The golden flowers are sewed by hand, same goes for the lace from the skirt as well. Back in my great-grandmother’s days, the girls were wearing these kind of pieces only on the holidays, because they were too expensive to be worn on a daily basis.

Intention

Why is this cultural treasure important to you?

It is important because it has emotional value to me.

How is youth connected to your cultural treasure?

Without the youngers, these pieces of clothing would have been lost a long way before.

Is the cultural treasure you want to share typically only in your country?

The national costume is typical in my country, but you rarely find pieces this old.

How to preserve and pass on cultural heritage to younger generations?

The younger generation should be exposed periodically to cultural heritage, so it would grow to like it more and more.

What is the way to give our knowledge to younger generations (educational system, youth festivals and holidays)?

Maybe the best way is to show to them the importance of doing so.

Descriere
