Appreciating popular TraditionsLJUBEZEN DO LJUDSKEGA IZROČILA

Description

Dušica Kunaver, writer as well as publisher of folk tales and ethnic customs has been collecting folk tales all her life and authored many books of folk tales and songs. Today aged 80, her eyes still get bright remembering her  parents who  made her love folk tradition and play  children’s games every summer during  her holidays in her father’s native village. Unfortunately, the customs  and habits in villages  have been changing.» The last farmer  to know how to beat the wheat is now 90 years old”, she says. “Young people are not interested in this activity anymore. Young men used to sing songs in the villages and  people used to communicate more, to be together more often while  performing different activities. They used to help the farmers”.  Dušica Kunaver is transmitting folk traditions over to younger generations in school. Herself a teacher, she used to calm down disobedient school children by telling them folk tales  and singing popular songs. Over the last three decades she has been rejoicing  children in many schools as a story teller.  Her greatest wish is to preserve folk traditions in family life , since families have the  power to create bonds between younger and older generations

Intention

Through Dušica Kunaver I got to know many old religious customs, Slovenian folk tradition. I just want to pass this on to other Danube countries and at the same time get to know the customs of their countries.

Opis
