Hora is a traditional dance from Romania and the Republic of Moldova that gathers everyone in a large circle. The dancers hold hands and take 3 steps back and forth with a beat, turning the circle counterclockwise. The dance is accompanied by specific Romanian instruments. The dance is danced on all traditional holidays, being indispensable at any party organized by the elderly and even young people.
The one who gives deep social meanings and strengthens its historical message is the minstrel from Mircești, Vasile Alecsandri through the famous “Hora Unirii”, the most beautiful hora of the Romanian nation.
Hora became the symbol of the twinning of all Romanians. As if in a hora, the Carpathians seem to shake hands and the waters form a wonderful belt. The hora expresses the great deeds of Cuza, the ringing of the bells from Putna and Alba-Iulia, the call for the great Union with the Country.

Intention
I consider that hora is the dance of the rebirth of the Romanian people, it represents me.
Hora is my life, the moment I hear the music I immediately get up to dance.
I learned to dance the hora since childhood. I always dress in a traditional national costume at the hora and wear it with pride.
I am part of a group of dancers, who meet weekly and learn Romanian folk dances. You are not Romanian if you do not know how to dance hora. With all my heart I teach the next generation the Romanian popular dance, it is in the DNA of our nation. Hora smoothens your forehead, cheers you up, keeps you young.
It is an opportunity, as can be seen, to meet in groups of more people and to enjoy every moment.

Hora este un dans tradițional din România și Republica Moldova care strânge pe toată lumea într-un cerc mare. Dansatorii se țin de mână și fac câte 3 pași înainte și înapoi cu bătaie, învartind cercul, în sensul invers acelor de ceasornic. Dansul este acompaniat de instrumente specifice românești. Hora se dansează la toate sărbătorile tradiționale, fiind nelipsită la orice petrecere organizată de vârstnici și chiar de tineri .
Cel care conferă semnificații profunde sociale și-i întăreste mesajul istoric este bardul de la Mircești, Vasile Alecsandri prin faimoasa “Hora Unirii”, cea mai frumoasă horă a neamului românesc.

Hora ist ein traditioneller Tanz aus Rumänien und der Republik Moldau, bei dem alle in einem großen Kreis zusammenkommen. Die Tänzerinnen und Tänzer halten sich an den Händen und gehen im Takt 3 Schritte hin und her, wobei sie den Kreis gegen den Uhrzeigersinn drehen. Begleitet wird der Tanz von speziellen rumänischen Instrumenten. Die Hora wird bei allen traditionellen Festen getanzt und ist ein Muss bei jeder Feier, sowohl bei älteren Menschen und jungen Leuten.
Der Barde aus Mircești, Vasile Alecsandri, gab dem Tanz eine tiefe soziale Bedeutung und eine historische Botschaft mit seiner berühmten “Hora Unirii”, der schönsten Hora der rumänischen Nation.

Absicht
Die Hora ist zum Symbol für die Brüderlichkeit aller Rumänen geworden. Wie in einer Hora scheinen sie sich die Carpații die Hand zu geben und das Wasser bildet einen wunderbaren Gürtel. Die Hora drückt die großen Taten von Cuza aus, das Läuten der Glocken von Putna und Alba-Iulia, den Drang nach der großen Vereinigung mit dem Land.
