My Father’s Notebooks

Description
As the son of a peasant, my father – Mihai Baicu, heard stories and legends from old people, discovered the history of the place and the family and learned traditional customs and crafts. He left his village keeping in his heart’s memory all this living treasure. In his old age, he wrote down everything he knew and felt; he filled two notebooks, one with poems, the other with notes.
Then he gave them to me to keep them.
After a while I published them in two books:
“A swan song” – sonnets and other poems.
“The family chronicle, notes from ancient times.”
And so, Mihai Baicu and his books joined the cultural heritage of Galati and Romania.
And I, as an heir to my father’s notebooks, know that I did my duty as his daughter by enriching his literary treasure and bringing it back to where my father left it.
Intention
The need for culture is a human need that we feel throughout our lives.
We inherit culture of the past, we know it, we keep it, we enrich it, and then we teach it to future generations. Thus, we ensure the eternity of our cultural heritage that defines us as a people.
In the history of our nation, the custom pertains for peasants to teach their children and grandchildren to respect and to preserve traditional values.
Those born in the rural areas or those with peasant parents know this.
I also know it from my father, a son of peasants from Moldova from a village not far from Galati, Danube city.
I keep the personal literary treasure from my father and wish to present it through the CODANEC project.

Ca fiu de țăran, tatăl meu – Mihai Baicu, a auzit povești și legende din bătrâni, a aflat despre istoria locului și a familiei și a învățat obiceiuri și meșteșuguri tradiționale. A plecat din satul său păstrând în memoria sufletului toată această comoară vie. La batrânețe, a redat în scris tot ce știa și ce simțea; a umplut două caiete, unul cu poezii, altul cu însemnări.
Apoi, mi le-a dat mie să le păstrez.
După un timp i le-am publicat in două cărți:
,,Un cântec de lebădă – sonete și alte poeme”.
,,Letopiseț de familie, însemnări din vremi apuse.”
Și astfel, Mihai Baicu și carţile sale au intrat în patrimoniul cultural gălăţean și românesc.
Iar eu, ca moștenitoare a caietelor tatei știu că mi-am făcut datoria de fiică îmbogățindu-i comoara literară si readucând-o în locul de unde tatal meu a plecat de tânăr.
Intenția
Nevoia de cultură este o nevoie umană pe care o simţim pe parcursul vieţii noastre.
Moştenim o cultură a trecutului, o cunoaştem, o păstrăm, o îmbogăţim si apoi o predăm şi noi mai departe generaţiilor viitoare. Asigurăm astfel o veşnicie a patrimoniului nostru cultural care ne defineşte ca popor.
În istoria neamului nostru a rămas obiceiul ca ţăranii să-şi înveţe copiii si nepoţii să respecte şi să păstreze valorile tradiţionale.
Cei născuţi la ţară sau cei care au părinţi ţărani ştiu acest lucru.
Şi eu o ştiu de la tata, fiu de ţărani din Moldova, dintr-un sat nu departe de Galaţi, oraş dunărean.
Păstrez o comoară literară personală de la tata şi doresc să o prezint altora prin proiectul CODANEC.
Beschreibung
Als Sohn eines Bauern hörte mein Vater, Mihai Baicu, die Geschichten und Legenden der alten Leute. Er studierte die Geschichte des Ortes und der Familie, kannte die alten Bräuche und erlernte das traditionelle Handwerk. Er verließ sein Dorf, doch in seinem Herzen blieben diese Schätze lebendig. Als alter Mann begann er, all sein Wissen und seine Gefühle niederzuschreiben. So entstanden zwei Bücher: Ein Gedichtband und ein Buch voller Aufzeichnungen.
Dann gab er mir beide zur Aufbewahrung.
Einige Zeit später veröffentlichte ich beide: Das eine trägt den Titel „Ein Schwanengesang“ und enthält Sonette und andere Gedichte, das andere heißt „Die Familienchronik, Notizen aus alter Zeit“.
Auf diese Weise wurden Mihai Baicu und seine Bücher Teil des kulturellen Erbes von Galati und Rumänien.
Und ich, als die Erbin seiner Aufzeichnungen, habe meine Pflicht als seine Tochter getan: seine Aufzeichnungen bereichern die Literaturlandschaft Rumäniens und seine Geschichte bleibt lebendig.
Intention
Eine Kultur zu haben ist ein urmenschliches Bedürfnis, das uns unser ganzen Leben lang begleitet.
Wir erben Kultur, wir wissen um sie, wir erhalten sie, wir bereichern sie, und dann lehren wir sie der nachwachsenden Generation. So sorgen wir für das ewige Fortbestehen unseres kulturellen Erbes, das uns als Menschen definiert.
Es ist in unserem Land schon lange Brauch, dass die Bauern ihren Kindern und Enkeln beibringen unsere traditionellen Werte zu respektieren und zu erhalten.
Die, die in den ländlichen Regionen geboren sind oder Kinder von Bauern sind, wissen das.
Ich weiß es ebenfalls von meinem Vater, dem Sohn moldawischer Bauern aus einem Dorf nahe Galati, einer Stadt der Danube.
Ich erhalte den sehr persönlichen literarischen Schatz meines Vaters und möchte ihn mithilfe des CODANEC Projekts präsentieren.
