Description
Hii, my name is Diana Zlibut, I come from Timisoara (Romania) and I plan to present a certain type of faes known in the Romanian lore- them being the sânziene and the iele.
The sânziane are gentle fairies , who are very important in the local folklore. The plural form – Sânziene, designates the annual festival in the fairies’ honor.
The name comes from the Latin ‘Sancta Diana’, which is the Roman goddess of the hunt and moon. So, since my name is Diana, this holds a personal value to me.
As about them, they are said to be fair beings, who live deep in forests and hold an amazing beauty.
According to the folk belief, on the 24th of June, the door to their realm is open, so, they go out and play the dance of the ieles (which are a dangerous type of faes, comparable to aes sidhes of Ireland) , they play the dance hidden, in secluded places.
The iele are much more dangerous and have encountering them may lead to disastrous effects.
I have here this small figurine of a girl clothed in a traditional costume, with two wings added, as to represent the nature of these faes.

Bună ziua, mă numesc Diana Zlibut, sunt din Timișoara (România) și intenționez să prezint un anumit tip de zâne cunoscute în tradiția românească – sânziene și iele.
Sânzienele sunt zâne blânde , care sunt foarte importante în folclorul local. Forma de plural – Sânziene, desemnează festivalul anual în cinstea zânelor.
Numele provine din latinescul “Sancta Diana”, care este zeița romană a vânătorii și a lunii. Așadar, din moment ce numele meu este Diana, acest lucru are o valoare personală pentru mine.
Cât despre ele, se spune că sunt ființe echitabile, care trăiesc în adâncul pădurilor și care dețin o frumusețe uimitoare.
Conform credinței populare, pe 24 iunie, ușa tărâmului lor este deschisă, așa că, ies și joacă dansul ieles (care sunt un tip periculos de faes, comparabil cu aes sidhes din Irlanda) , ele joacă dansul ascunse, în locuri retrase.
Ielele sunt mult mai periculoase și au întâlnirea cu ele poate duce la efecte dezastruoase.
Am aici această mică figurină a unei fete îmbrăcate într-un costum tradițional, la care am adăugat două aripi, ca să reprezinte natura acestor zâne.

Hallo, mein Name ist Diana Zlibut, ich komme aus Timisoara in Rumänien und möchte eine bestimmte Gattung von Feen vorstellen, die in der rumänischen Überlieferung bekannt sind – nämlich die Sânziane und die Iele.
Die Sânziane sind freundliche Feen, die in der einheimischen Folklore eine große Rolle spielen. Die Pluralform – Sânziene, bezeichnet das jährliche Fest zu Ehren der Feen.
Der Name stammt aus dem Lateinischen “Sancta Diana”, der römischen Göttin der Jagd und des Mondes. Da ich Diana heiße, hat dies einen persönlichen Wert für mich.
Man sagt, sie seien liebliche Geschöpfe, die tief in den Wäldern leben und eine erstaunliche Schönheit besitzen.
Der Volksglaube besagt, dass am 24. Juni das Tor zu ihrem Reich offen steht, so dass sie herauskommen und den Iele-Tanz vollführen (eine gefährliche Art von Fee, vergleichbar mit den Áes Síde in Irland), sie tanzen heimlich und an abgelegenen Orten.
Iele sind weitaus gefährlicher, ihnen zu begegnen kann katastrophale Folgen mit sich bringen.
Ich habe hier diese kleine Mädchenfigur in traditioneller Tracht mit zwei Flügeln versehen, um die Wesensart dieser Feen darzustellen.
