This poem is about the Romanian language. The Romanian language was always influenced by different Russian words. The author wrote this poem to apologize to the Romanian language, for not defending or protecting it.
At the end of the 80’s, Grigore Vieru (the author) is in the first line of the National Liberation Movement in Bessarabia. His texts (including the songs in his texts) play an important role in awakening the national consciousness of the Romanians in Bessarabia. Vieru is one of the founders of the Popular Front of Moldova and is one of the organizers and leaders of the Grand National Assembly on August 27, 1989. He actively participated in the debates of the 13th session of the Supreme Soviet of the SSR, in which the Romanian language was chosen as the official language and the transition to Latin spelling was made.

Seine Texte (einschließlich der Lieder in seinen Texten) spielen eine große Rolle bei der Erweckung des nationalen Bewusstseins der Rumänen in Bessarabien. Vieru ist einer der Gründer der Volksfront Moldawiens und gehört zu den Organisatoren und Führern der Großen Nationalversammlung am 27. August 1989. Er nimmt aktiv an den Debatten der 13. Sitzung des Obersten Sowjets der SSR teil, in denen die rumänische Sprache als Amtssprache und der Übergang zu gewählt wird Lateinische Schreibweise.
